In the event of a UK euro changeover, the Government would promote fair treatment and comprehensive
information for all citizens and consumers. The Government is working with stakeholders to develop
a Consumer Protection Framework to protect consumers and maintain consumer confidence in the event
of a changeover. We have consulted our key stakeholders informally and a draft framework is available. This draft updates the version that was originally posted on this site in November 2005. The document will be reviewed periodically and comments from interested
stakeholders are welcome.
